Overview

When you are running PhixFlow in

, use the repository to find any of the items in your PhixFlow instance

. The Full Repository lists everything in the repository from all applications and packages, including anything which isn't inside an application or package. A user will only be able to see items which they have permission to view.

The repository explorer can be accessed by clicking the icon Image Removed in the bottom right hand corner in design mode. The repository browser may also be opened from some forms to view a subsection of items which may be dragged onto the form e.g. for adding a task plan rule to an action.

Objects in the repository browser are organised by type; click the arrow next to the collection header to see all of the objects of that type. Objects in packages are not organised under collection headers by default, but this option can be enabled by right clicking on the package name and choosing 'Show the collection headers'

that you have permission to view. If the repository is not shown, go to the bottom right of the screen and click

Items are grouped into the following main branches which you can

  • Applications: This branch lists PhixFlow applications. Expand an application to see the items contained in it.
  • Packages: Items in a package can be shared by different applications.
  • Full Repository: This branch lists all items from any application or package.
  • Unallocated: This branch lists the items that are not included in any application or package.
  • System Configuration: Opens a properties tab where administrators can set defaults for the whole PhixFlow system
  • System Logging: Opens a properties tab where administrators can set defaults for logging system data.

When you are looking for items in the repository, it is important to check whether you are looking in an Application branch, or in the Full Repository.  In both branches, items are listed in collection headers, in alphanumeric order. By default, items in packages are not listed under collection headers. To use collection headers in a package, right-click on the package name and select Show the collection headers.

When any branches of the repository are open, you can quickly collapse them all. In the repository toolbar, click

.

When you are editing the properties for some items, you can open a repository tab containing a filtered list of items. You can then drag selected items from the repository into the properties. For example, this makes it easy to add a task plan to an action.

Tooltips

If you hover your mouse pointer over an item in the repository browser, PhixFlow displays a tooltip for it, if one is available. The tooltip comes from the item's Description property; see Common Properties.

Context Menu

In the repository browser, you can right-click on an item to display its context menu; see Menu Options and Toolbar Buttons for details of the options.

If you hover over an object in the repository browser, and the object has a description, then the description will be displayed as a floating tool tip.

All objects can be permanently deleted from the repository browser.

Note

The option to Permanently Delete an item:

  • cannot be undone
  • deletes the item from the repository and from any application, package, model or layout that uses it.

Finding Repository Items

In the repository browser, most items are sorted by type under a collection header. For example all the analysis models are stored together in alphabetical order. To find an item of a specific type, expand the foldercollection header. You can then either scroll down the list or, to help you find items in long lists, use the search box. When you type into the search box, PhixFlow filters the list to show only the names that contain the string you have typed so far.

Some types of item "belong" to another item. For example you can expand any stream to see that it can potentially have actions, stream item actions, attributes, views, filters, sort orders and inputs. You can also search within these sub-categoriescollections.

Searching for an item:

Selecting Items

To select a group of items, use Shift+click. To select several items individually, use Ctrl+click.

Applications and Packages

To move an object to another application or package, drag-and-drop it on the new application or package in the repository browser. Each object can only be part of one application or package so when objects are moved into a package they are no longer included in the application. See Applications and Packages for more details.

To remove an item from an application or package, right-click on it in the repository browser and select Remove from Container. This will remove removes the item from the application or package, but it will still appear remains in the full repositoryrepository and in any other application or package that uses it.

To add stream attributes to application components, such as layouts or forms, you can simply drag in the attribute. As you are dragging, PhixFlow changes the cursor to show where you can drop the attribute:

  •  you can drop the attribute
  •  you cannot drop the attribute.

Streams

Multiple items can be selected using Ctrl+click to select individual items or Shift+click to select a range. To rollback multiple streams at the same time, select the streams required and then right click on a selected stream. The menu option 'Rollback Selected Objects' will be available to rollback all of the selected streamsYou can rollback the data in one or more streams using the repository context menu. Select the streams, then right-click to display the context menu and select Rollback Selected Objects

Finding Out Where Repository Items Are Used

To find where an item is used, right-click on its name to display the context menu and click Show where used. This displays PhixFlow opens a new window containing a list of all the models or applications that use the item in the PhixFlow instance. The search results do not include places where the object is referred to by name, for example in expressions. Items that you have permission to view are listed. If you do not have permission to view an item, PhixFlow displays an icon to indicate something uses the item

Tip
Use

Remember to use Show where used before you delete an item, to check if it is still

used

needed by something else.

To see context menu options for an item in the list, right-click the item name. The options available to you in the context menu Items listed in the window also have a context menu. The options depend on the type of object and your permissions, but may include options to: the same as in the repository, plus

Find in explorer (show the item in the repository browser)

some of the options available for the repository; see Menu Options and Toolbar Buttons. All items have the Find in explorer option, which expands the repository to show the item.
