geoBuffer(Geometry value, Double distance), Computes a buffer area around left geometry using the given distance.

Function: geoBuffer(

...

Geometry value,

...

Double distance, Integer decimalPlaces, Integer quadrantSegments

Computes a buffer area around left geometry having using the given widthdistance

If passed a string the geometry functions will automatically convert it into a geometry object.

Syntax

Geometry geoBuffer( "Well Known Text", distance)  geometryValue, Distance,  decimalPlaces, quadrantSegments )

ArgumentTypeDescription
Well Known Text
geometryValue

WTK String

Well known text (WKT) is a text mark-up language for representing vector geometry objectsDistanceFloat

Examples

or

Geometry Object

The geometry the calculation is formed around provided in either data type.

DistanceFloatThe size of the buffer area to be used.
decimalPlacesIntegerThe number of decimal places to use in the geometry calculations. Defaults to 0 if not provided. Can also take negative values e.g. -1 uses geometry to the nearest 10.
quadrantSegmentsIntegerThe number of line segments used to represent the quadrant of a circle where the buffer boundary contains circular arcs. Defaults to 8 if not provided.

Examples

geoBuffer("POLYGON ((30 10, 40 40, 20 40, 10 20, 30 10))", 10)

Returns a Geometry of the buffer area.
