Find your way around PhixFlow

When you first open your PhixFlow training instance, you will see a blank area on the left. This is the modelling pane. The green area on the right is the repository browser. Click on Full Repository to see all the models and associated objects available in PhixFlow.

When you create your first model, and start to add modelling objects, PhixFlow will look like this:

Save models and modelling objects

When you are modelling data in PhixFlow, you will be making changes:

  • to a model, the objects it includes and its layout.
  • to settings for the model itself, or to settings for its objects. Use one of the toolbar icons at the top of the settings tab:

       to save your changes but keep the settings tab open.

       to save your changes and close the settings tab.
Tip

When you save the settings, also remember to save the model. The model has another toolbar. Click

Create and open a new model

  1. In the repository browser, expand Full Repository, then Analysis Models.

A modelling pane will appear.

Adding modelling components to your model

You can add modelling components to your model by dragging objects from the menu bar of the modelling pane.

  • Press your left mouse button on Image Removed Add New Stream (Calculate), drag this onto the modelling pane, then release the left mouse button
  • A new stream form will appear on the right-hand side
  • Enter the Name: Practice Stream
  • Press Image Removed OK

A new stream will appear on your model view, called Practice Stream.

Moving modelling components on the pane

To move the stream in the modelling pane:

  • Press the left mouse button on the icon and drag it, releasing the button where you want to leave the stream

Any modelling components can be moved in this way.

Saving changes to your model

  2. PhixFlow displays a settings tab for a new analysis model. In Basic Settings, set:
    Name: Introduction to Modelling

  3. Click

  4. In the settings tab toolbar, click

    In the white area on the left, called the modelling pane, PhixFlow opens a new, empty model.

Add objects to your model

You can have multiple files open in the modelling pane. When a model is open, PhixFlow displays the model name and its toolbar. Drag modelling objects from the toolbar to add them to your model.

To drag a modelling object into your model:

  1. Click and hold

  2. Drag the stream onto the modelling pane.
  3. Then drop the stream. 

To move any object in a model, simply click, drag, then drop the icon in a new location.

When you have multiple objects in your model, you can also use the layout tools to arrange them: Image Added

Change object settings

When you drop an object into the model, on the right PhixFlow opens a settings tab.

  1. In the stream settings → Basic Settings, set:
    NamePractice Stream
  2. Click

     to save and close the settings tab.
  3. PhixFlow updates the stream icon in your model to display the name Practice Stream.
  4. Now save your model. Click

     in the model toolbar.

Undo a change to a model

Sometimes you may make a change to a model that you do not want to keep.

  1. In your model, drag the stream to a different location.
  2. Without saving, click

  3. Notice that the model returns to its previously saved layout.
