By the end of this section you will be able to:

  • Associate an Excel template with a view

First you will specify the location of excel templates:

  • Click on the Admin button in the top right of PhixFlow and select System Configuration
  • Go to the System Directories tab

Take a note of what the Template Location property is set to (something like /external/training/landing/excelTemplates).
You will now use a template in this directory to format one of the views you created:

  • Open the model Dashboards and Forms 01-08: Views, filters and dashboards
  • Go to the Stream Overall Debt Levels, and open the configuration form for the view Overall Debt Levels
  • Go to the Advanced tab
  • In field Excel Template specify debtOverview.xls
  • Press
  • Open the template you just used:
    • If you have sftp access, e.g. via FileZilla, you can retrieve the file from the cloud server from templates directory noted above
    • If not, a copy of the template is available in the control framework:
      • Press - Show the control framework in the left-hand menu bar of PhixFlow
      • Expand the folder PhixFlow Training
      • Double click on the control Excel template to open it
      • Go to the Files tab
      • Double-click on the template file to open or download it
  • Review the template – you will need to unhide the first sheet to see it
  • You will see that the first worksheet (Basic Data) is blank - PhixFlow always writes exported data to the first worksheet; formatted cells are found on the worksheet Formatted Data.
  • Open the view Overall Debt Levels, and export the data to Excel
  • You will see the exported data from PhixFlow in the first worksheet – and formatted output on the second worksheet

Remember (from the User Course) that the template associated with a view can also be used when creating an HTML export of data.
