PhixFlow comprises two parts:

  • All the PhixFlow data and items (files) are stored in a database on a server
  • As a user, you run the PhixFlow client in a web browser using the URL provided by your administrator.

You can work with PhixFlow in two ways.

  •  Design Mode: use this mode to create applications. This includes designing screens, creating workflows and actionflows, defining data structure and relationships. You can also set up complex bulk data processing using analysis models.
We recommend that you use design mode on a desktop computer as you require screen space to build analysis models and design application screens.
  • Application Mode: use this mode to run your PhixFlow applications. Applications can be designed to be used on:
    • desktop or laptop computers
    • mobile device, such as tablet or smartphone.

Administrators can set up PhixFlow so that application users never see  Design Mode, and can access only the applications and data that they need.

When you run the PhixFlow client in a browser, the PhixFlow window has:

  • The PhixFlow header bar. On the left the header bar has:
    •  Application menu icon, which opens the Welcome window. This is present in both desktop and mobile views.
    • the PhixFlow name and logo, . This is present in desktop views, provide your system has not been configured to show your company's logo instead. You can click the PhixFlow logo to open the Welcome window.
  • Below the header bar is a menu bar specific to the currently loaded open application.

For more details about the layout of PhixFlow's windows, see PhixFlow's Interface.
