Overview

Use the Data Export window to export data from selected tables, applications or packages.

To export data you must have the Export Table Data privilege, which allows you to export data from tables, packages and applications. You do not need the privilege to view the data in order to export it.

You may want to export data from tables in PhixFlow to then:

  • archive or review data files
  • import the data into another system
  • import the data into another PhixFlow instance where the tables already exist.
In this case, we recommend using Configuration Export to export the tables themselves; see Export Configuration.

How to Export Data

You can choose what data to export from the Export Data window.

  1. Click the  Administration icon, in the top right of the PhixFlow header bar.
  2. Select Export → Data.
  3. PhixFlow opens the Export Data window where you can specify what to export:

    FieldDescription
Please drag tables, applications or packages to export

Drag the items from the repository into the box. Select:

    • either individual tables
    • or an application or package to include data from all the tables that belong to the application or package.
    Export Rule

When you drag items into the box, PhixFlow lists them under an Export Rule

    Select one of:

    • All Data
    • Recordsets
    • Date Range

For a package or application, the same rule applies to all the tables in the application or package.

    For tables, you can:

    • either specify one rule for all the tables
    • or specify a different rule for different tables.

    Number of

Available when Export Rule is Recordsets.

Enter the number of most recent recordsets you want to include.

    From

    To

Available when Export Rule is Date Range.

Enter or select the date range of the data you want to export. PhixFlow includes incomplete recordsets in the export.

    Password

Optionally, enter a password that PhixFlow will use to encrypt the export file.

Remember this password. You need to provide it when you open the zip archive or import it to another system or PhixFlow instance.

    Compress

PhixFlow creates a zip archive of the data containing a set of XML files for each table included in the export. Tick to compress the export file.

Untick to create a zip without additional compression.
  4. Click Export Data. PhixFlow generates a zip archive and saves it to your computer's download folder.
The zip archive contains a set of XML files for each table included in the export.
