By the end of this chapter you will be able to:
Save models and modelling objects
When you are modelling data in PhixFlow, you will be making changes:
- to a model, the objects it includes and its layout.
- to settings for the model itself, or to settings for its objects. Use one of the toolbar icons at the top of the settings tab:
- Save to save your changes but keep the settings tab open.
- OK to save your changes and close the settings tab.
When you save the settings, also remember to save the model. The model has another toolbar. Click Save to save the model.
Create and open a new model
In the repository browser, expand Full Repository, then Analysis Models.
- To create a new model, right-click on Analysis Models and select Add Analysis Model.
PhixFlow displays a settings tab for a new analysis model. In Basic Settings, set:
Name:Introduction to Modelling
- Click Save.
- In the settings tab toolbar, click Display.
In the white area on the left, called the modelling pane, PhixFlow opens a new, empty model.
Add objects to your model
You can have multiple files open in the modelling pane. When a model is open, PhixFlow displays the model name and its toolbar. Drag modelling objects from the toolbar to add them to your model.
To drag a modelling object into your model:
- Click and hold Calculate Stream.
- Drag the stream onto the modelling pane.
- Then drop the stream.
To move any object in a model, simply click, drag, then drop the icon in a new location.
When you have multiple objects in your model, you can also use the layout tools to arrange them:
Change object settings
When you drop an object into the model, on the right PhixFlow opens a settings tab.
- In the stream settings → Basic Settings, set:
Name:Practice Stream
- Click OK to save and close the settings tab.
- PhixFlow updates the stream icon in your model to display the name
Practice Stream
. - Now save your model. Click Save in the model toolbar.
Undo a change to a model
Sometimes you may make a change to a model that you do not want to keep.
- In your model, drag the stream to a different location.
- Without saving, click Refresh.
- Notice that the model returns to its previously saved layout.
