geoEnvelope(Geometry value, Decimal Places), Returns a geometry representing the envelope (rectangular bounding box) of the provided geometry.

Function: geoEnvelope(Geometry

...

value, Decimal Places)

Returns a Geometry geometry representing the envelope (rectangular bounding box) of left Geometrythe provided geometry.

If passed a string the geometry functions will automatically convert it into a geometry object.

Syntax

geoEnvelope( "Well Known Text" geometryValue, decimalPlaces

ArgumentTypeDescription
Well Known TextgeometryValue

WTK String

Well known text (WKT) is a text mark-up language for representing vector geometry objects

or

Geometry Object

The geometry used in the function to calculate its envelope (rectangular bounding box).
decimalPlacesIntegerThe number of decimal places to use in the geometry calculations. Defaults to 0 if not provided. Can also take negative values e.g. -1 uses geometry to the nearest 10.

Examples

geoEnvelope("POLYGON ((30.1030 10, 40 40, 20 40, 10 20, 30 10))")

Returns a Geometry representing the envelope (rectangular bounding box) of left Geometry as a Stringthe provided geometry.
