This page is for application designers who want to design re-usable components and add them to palettes.
Overview
If you have a specific component that you want to reuse on multiple screens, you can make a Template, then add it to a new or existing palette.
Making a Template
- On a screen, add components from a palette to create a desired layout.
- Set all the style options you require. We recommend that you use shared styles when designing a layout that you want to add to a palette.
- Right-click the outermost component for the layout and select Find in Repository.
- In the repository, right-click the component name.
- From the context menu, select Copy as a Template.
- PhixFlow opens a new property pane. This is a copy of the original component, with the Advanced → Template property ticked. It is saved in the Template section of the repository.
- Edit the name to reflect that this component is now a template.
- To add a template to a palette, in the repository open the desired palette. Drag the tab into the workspace to show the tab for the palette and template side-by-side.
- Drag the template into the desired group of the palette.
- The template is now ready as a reusable item that can be dragged from your palette to a screen.
You can add your own components to the palettes provided by Phixflow. Alternatively, you can keep your custom components on your own palettes; see Creating a Palette.
Managing Templates
To successfully move a palette to a different PhixFlow instance, you must include all its templates and styles in the export. Consider adding your styles, templates and associated palette to a package, to ensure they are all included in an export; see Package for how to add items to a package.
To perform the export click the Administration menu options Export Full Configuration or Open Export Pane to include the templates and styles in your package; see Export Configuration and Import Configuration.
