Using the Download Area

Overview

When you use theĀ  Administration menuĀ ā†’ Export options, PhixFlow generates an exported configuration zip file and saves it to the download area for a limited time; seeĀ Using the Download AreaĀ andĀ Configuring the Download Area.Ā

Large files may take some time for PhixFlow to generate. Once the file is generated, PhixFlow opens the Download Area window. Alternatively, you can open the download area from the  AdministrationĀ menu. ClickĀ Ā Downloads.

How To Download a Zip File

To download a zip file from the Download Area window:

  • either click on a file's row to select it, then in the toolbar, click  Download File.
  • or double-click on the file's created date.

To ensure data security, PhixFlow can encrypt the file when you download it. When it encrypts the file, PhixFlow asks for a password to associate with the zip file.Ā

If you have set a defaultĀ Export PasswordĀ in yourĀ User Details, PhixFlow autofills the prompt. At this point you can:

  • accept your default password
  • clear your default password to download the file unencrypted, if yourĀ Password Policy permits this
  • enter a different password.

You must remember the password so that you can provide it when you import the file to another PhixFlow instance. You cannot de-encrypt a file to view its content.

In the Save Password check box:

  • Ā UntickĀ to prevent PhixFlow saving this as your default export password.
  • Ā TickĀ to save this as your default export password. This updates the field in your User properties.
If you do not have a default password or it has expired, and you would like toĀ autofill the password for the next download, tick this box.

Click Ā to download the file.

To subsequently import the zip file to another PhixFlow instance use theĀ Ā ā†’Ā Ā ImportĀ ā†’ Configuration option; seeĀ Import Configuration.
