This page is for PhixFlow administrators who need to assign privileges to roles. It describes the privilege settings. For related information, see the PhixFlow User Administration topic.
Overview
PhixFlow has many privileges, each representing a specific tasks that a PhixFlow user can do. For example to create and change a table, a user needs the privileges Create Streams and Modify Streams.
Privileges are assigned to, for example, Designer, User, Administrator. Then roles and user groups are linked. For more information about how users, user groups, roles and privileges are connected, see pages in the User Administration topic.
For information about the properties toolbar, and about the sections Parent Details, Analysis Models, Description and Audit Summary, see Common Properties. We recommend you always add a Description that explains the purpose of the item you are creating.
For a full list of all the PhixFlow property tabs and windows, see Properties, Windows, Menus and Toolbars.
Types of Privilege
Privileges apply to modelling objects, application components and administration items, such as users. Privileges have the following types:
View: you can see the item throughout PhixFlow
List: you can see the item in the repository. You must also have the view privilege.
Create: you can create a new item.
Modify: you can change an existing item
Delete: you can delete an item.
Finding Privileges
To find privileges, in the repository scroll down to the Privileges section and expand it.
You may see privilege icons with different colours:
- yellow Privileges indicates actions that require this privilege will not be audited.
- red Privilege indicates actions that require this privilege will be audited.
See Managing Audits, below, for details.
You cannot add or remove privileges. You can make changes to a privilege, for example to add roles or to change the Audit this Action option. To change a privilege, double-click on the name to open its property tab.
