geoType
Function: geoType(Geometry value, Decimal Places)
Returns the name of this geometry's actual class e.g. "Point", "LineString", "Polygon"", "MultiPolygon".
If passed a string the geometry functions will automatically convert it into a geometry object.
Syntax
geoType( geometryValue, decimalPlaces )
Argument | Type | Description |
---|---|---|
geometryValue | WTK String or Geometry Object | The geometry the calculation is formed around provided in either data type to determine its geometry class. |
decimalPlaces | Integer | The number of decimal places to use in the geometry calculations. Defaults to 0 if not provided. Can also take negative values e.g. -1 uses geometry to the nearest 10. |
Examples
geoType("POLYGON ((30 10, 40 40, 20 40, 10 20, 30 10))")
Returns the name of this geometry's actual class, e.g. "Point", "LineString", "Polygon"", "MultiPolygon", as a String.
