The Application is an object which defines the PhixFlow instance's properties like the menu bar.
Form: Application details
The following fields are configured on the Details tab:

| Name | The name of the application. |
| Default Date Format | The default format for Date attributes and components |
| Default Date/Time Format | The default format for DateTime attributes and components |
| Default Number Format | The default format for numbers |
| Style Settings | |
| Styles set here will be the default for all grid views in the application. They will override any styles set in System Configuration and can be overridden on individual grids by setting styles in the Stream View form. | |
| Menus | |
| Menus | The menus that will appear in the application. See Menu and below for more details. |
| Access Permissions | |
| All Users Can View Application | If this is ticked then all users can view the application. If it is not ticked then user groups can be selected. |
| User Groups | Only visible if All Users Can View Application is unticked. Users in the selected user groups will be able to see the application. |
| Description | Optional: a description of the application. |
Menus
This tab shows Menus which holds Stream Actions that can be applied for this Application. The selected menu is displayed at the main menubar.
Using the context menu (right-click) the user can choose which menu should be default for desktop and mobile devices. A corresponding icon will be displayed next to the name of an Application. Using that context menu the user can also load the Application with selected menu. All options available in the context menu are:
- Make Default Desktop Menu: set the menu as a default menu for this Application when using a PhixFlow on a computer
- Make Default Mobile Menu: set the menu as a default menu for this Application when using a PhixFlow on a mobile device (tablet/smartphone)
- Load Application: Load the Application with the selected menu using the same window
- Load Application In A New Tab: Load the Application with the selected menu using new tab
- Load Application In A New Window: Load the Application with the selected menu using new window
After creating a Menu there are two ways to add Lists and Buttons:
- Click on the Actions icon at the top of the grid. A popup window will appear listing all the available actions. Drag an action from this popup form onto the grid. If you drop onto an existing Button you will be asked if you want to create a new Button or to create a list which will hold new Buttons and the Button the Actions you dropped onto. If you drop onto an existing List the selected Actions will be added to the List.
- Use the '+' icon at the top of the grid. You can decide if you want to create a Button or a List.
You can add new Lists and Button to the existing List by following the same steps.

Starting applications directly with the URL
See Starting PhixFlow on the Client for details of how to start an application directly with the browser URL. Even if PhixFlow is started in this way, it is still possible to navigate within PhixFlow to other applications, providing that the user has the necessary access.
