User Administration
This topic is for PhixFlow administrators who need to manage user accounts and privileges in PhixFlow. It provides links to all the pages related to configuring and managing users and their accounts. To configure user access to PhixFlow, configure PhixFlow's own authentication and authorisation system. This includes user accounts, user groups, roles and privileges; see Managing User Accounts.
Users who belong to the Administrators user group can create, delete or update another users' account, user group and privileges.
Optionally, you can also integrate PhixFlow with your existing authentication system using:
- Active Directory (AD) integration: Configure Active Directory Integration
- Azure Active Directory (AAD) via SAML: Configure AAD Integration via SAML
The AD integration relies on AD to perform both authentication and authorisation.
The AAD integration via SAML gives you the options to:
- perform only authentication in AAD, and handle authorisation in PhixFlow
- perform both authentication and authorisation in AAD.
The documentation in this section explains the options in detail for each integration method.
To see a list of all the PhixFlow users, expand the Full Repository → Users. Users can request new passwords; see Changing or Resetting Your Password.
Making changes that affect users requires User Administration privileges. However, you can optionally provide the following privileges to users who do not have the User Administration privilege.
Privilege | Allows a user to |
---|---|
Administer Users, User Groups and Roles Create User | Add a new user account. |
Administer Users, User Groups and Roles Modify User | Make changes to a user account. |
Administer Users, User Groups and Roles Delete User | Delete an existing user account. |
Add and Remove Own User Groups | Add their own user account to a user group, or to remove it. |
Add and Remove Users from User Groups | Add other user accounts to a user group. |
PhixFlow is preconfigured with user groups for specific roles. There is no preconfigured role for application users, who require limited access to PhixFlow itself. Therefore, we recommend that you configure roles and privileges related to using and managing applications; see Managing User Groups and Privileges.
