Forms: Workflow Model

Workflow Model Views show a picture of a Workflow model.

Workflow Model views can include the following components: Place Node; Automatic Transition Node; Email Transition Node; External Transition Node; Timer Transition Node; User Transition Node; Arc.

Workflow Models can be saved and edited again. However, unlike Analysis Models individual Workflow components are only for use in the Workflow Model they were created in - this means they cannot be saved and used in other Workflow Models.

Form: Workflow Model Details

The Workflow Model Details appears when you press from the list of Workflow Models, to create a new Workflow Model. These details can also be requested for an existing model from the Workflow Model View pane - see below.

Field Description
Name Name of the Workflow model.
Owner Owner of the Workflow model.
Public If ticked, all users can view and edit the Workflow model. If not ticked, only the owner can view or edit the Workflow model.

The following fields are configured through separate tabs on the form:

Field Description
Description Description of the Workflow model.

Form: Workflow Model View Pane

Form Icons

The form provides the standard form icons as well as the following:

The default mode for the cursor in the model pane is select. Pressing this button sets the mode to drag. Alternatively, while in select mode, keep the Ctrl key pressed on your keyboard, and with the left mouse button pressed move the pointer.

If you are in drag mode, pressing this button puts you back into select mode (the default mode when you open a new Analysis Model View pane). While in select mode, keeping the left mouse button pressed and dragging over an area of the pane, you can select several items in the model.

Organise selected objects in a grid.

Align all selected objects left.

Align all selected objects right.

Align all selected objects to top.

Align all selected objects to bottom.

Distribute all selected objects horizontally.

Distribute all selected objects vertically.

Add a new Place node to the Workflow Model.

Add a new Automatic Transition node to the Workflow Model.

Add a new Email Transition node to the Workflow Model.

Add a new External Transition node to the Workflow Model.

Add a new Timer Transition node to the Workflow Model.

Add a new User Transition node to the Workflow Model.

Add a new Arc to the Workflow Model.

Add a backing Stream to the Workflow Model, or modify the existing backing Stream.

A backing Stream can be used to store additional data for each Workflow instance; this data can then be accessed from other parts of the Workflow, e.g. User Workflow Tasks.

By pressing this you get a slider which allows you to zoom out from the Workflow Model View pane. This is useful if you have a complex model and want to get a high-level overview.

Open the Workflow Model View details.

Make a copy of the model and all its contents

Export a copy of the model and all of its contents to an XML file so that it can be imported into another system (or saved as a backup)

Hover Menu

In the Workflow Model View pane a hover menu is also available for any object. To get this menu, move your pointer over the object and the hover menu will appear. The hover menu provides a number of the same buttons that appear in the menu bar, described above.

Object Context Menu

If you right click on any object in the Workflow Model View pane a context menu will appear. Further to standard options in context menus, the following action is also available:

  • Copy Object: Create a copy of the object
  • Export Object: Export a copy of the object
  • Permanently Delete: permanently delete the object from the Workflow Model in PhixFlow. This removes the object from PhixFlow completely - only do this if you are certain that you never want to use this object again.

Model Pane Context Menu

If you right click anywhere on the modelling pane a context menu will appear.

  • Copy Selected Objects: Create copies of the currently selected objects.
  • Export Selected Objects: Export copies of the currently selected objects.
