geoEnvelope
Function: geoEnvelope(Geometry value, Decimal Places)
Returns a geometry representing the envelope (rectangular bounding box) of the provided geometry.
If passed a string the geometry functions will automatically convert it into a geometry object.
Syntax
geoEnvelope( geometryValue, decimalPlaces)
Argument | Type | Description |
---|---|---|
geometryValue | WTK String or Geometry Object | The geometry used in the function to calculate its envelope (rectangular bounding box). |
decimalPlaces | Integer | The number of decimal places to use in the geometry calculations. Defaults to 0 if not provided. Can also take negative values e.g. -1 uses geometry to the nearest 10. |
Examples
geoEnvelope("POLYGON ((30 10, 40 40, 20 40, 10 20, 30 10))")
Returns a Geometry representing the envelope (rectangular bounding box) of the provided geometry.
