Function: geoArea(Geometry value, Decimal Places)

Returns the area of the left geometry.

If passed a string the geometry functions will automatically convert it into a geometry object.

Syntax

geoArea( geometryValue, decimalPlaces)

geometryValue

Geometry Object

The geometry the calculation is formed around is provided in either data type.

decimalPlaces

Integer

The number of decimal places to use in the geometry calculations. Defaults to 0 if not provided. Can also take negative values e.g. -1 uses geometry to the nearest 10.

Examples

geoArea("POLYGON ((30 10, 40 40, 20 40, 10 20, 30 10))")

Returns the area of geometry as a Float.
